Apparently it does!

Have you ever chosen a bottle of wine simply for its label? Did it taste better than a bottle with a mediocre label? Have you ever left the pharmacy with a tissue box that perfectly matches your bathroom colour scheme? Or bought a book just because you liked the cover? YES!?! Don’t worry, you’re not alone—three out of four people do it!

Following these statistics closely, the design and packaging industry has flourished over the past 15 years. These days consumers (now called PROsumers) are no longer viewed as a CON, but are proactively influencing the market. A prime example of this is Tropicana’s recently revamped packaging, which was quickly changed back to the original further to grumbling from consumers.

In short, whether you’re pro or anti over-packaging and over-consumption, the packaging industry is eliciting many a debate in these first few years of this green century! Next time you’re at the liquor store, why not opt for a box wine? It’s better for the environment and design options are far more limited!!!

Have your say!
