Negative Spaces
A company’s logo is a graphic representation of its identity. It’s in a company’s best interest to have an effective and disarmingly simple logo. This is basic knowledge; it’s not news to anyone.
But simple doesn’t necessarily mean done in a hurry, and given that the logo is the cornerstone of any visual identity, it sometimes takes a lot of work to come up with a really good one.
Here are a few logos that seem simple at first glance, but are actually quite complex. Each one has some kind of double meaning conferred by the use of negative space.

The negative space on either side creates two dogs’ heads!

In this logo, the negative space between the four arrows traces a fifth arrow pointing in the opposite direction.

This logo is more than just a drunkard; the man’s arms and legs form a wine glass.

In this logo, the letters “M” and “Y” form the shape of a hand.

We love this apple core that conceals two people’s profiles.

More than just a leaf, it’s three brothers!

Two wild animals facing off in negative space.

Using the “I” as a door . . . pretty clever for a company that installs doors!

Love and hate go hand in hand. Here’s proof.
Sure, you see the eagle . . . but can you see the wolf and the horse too?
