Graphs with character!
All graphic designers will tell you the same thing—there’s no miracle solution, no simple way of creating graphs. Either you use Excel—and tear your hair out—or you use the Graph function in Illustrator that hasn’t changed since version 3.0 (and I don’t mean CS 3.0!) But those days are over. Now all you need to design a basic graph is character—make that the
right character. The new
Chartwell typeface lets you to build graphs using ligatures in OpenType fonts.

To make a good-looking graph like the one on the left, simply select Chartwell font and type 5+12+17+66 into the text box. Then, modify the colours in the graph by changing the colours of the corresponding numbers. It’s as easy as pie!
What’s more, Chartwell also lets you to build bar and line graphs. At a mere $40 for the complete set of fonts, you have to admit it’s a handy and inexpensive solution for making monthly reports in a jiffy.
